The future of supplements

Modern diets and lifestyles are pushing our society further into an abyss of preventable chronic disease that’s essentially of our own making. There we pay a huge price if we continue to ignore the wonders of the extremely sensitive metabolic pathways handed to us by our ancestors that should allow us to store and use energy efficiently, while managing inflammation and oxidative stress in our bodies.
Vital to these processes is the supply of adequate plant-based nutrients, many of which have been eliminated from today’s ultra-processed diets.
As Rob Verkerk PhD, ANH’s (The Alliance for Natural Health) founder and scientific director, poignantly remarked: “Our modern day desire to want to ingest concentrated nutrients in the form of food supplements is quite likely a survival mechanism, one triggered by the increasingly simplified and processed diets to which so many of us are exposed. Not only has food supplementation always existed to see us through leaner times, today, it’s arguably a necessity. This is especially so if we’re to endeavour to live long and vital lives in which our final decades are untarnished by debilitating chronic disease.”
